Katy Perry calls out Australian politician on anti gay marriage stance
Katy Perry took time out from her promotional schedule for upcoming new album Prism by phoning into Aussie radio station 2DayFM to talk with the Leader of the Opposition in the Australian Parliament.
Appearing on the Kyle and Jackie O show, Perry exchanged pleasantries with the politician, Tony Abbott, with Abbott asking when the singer would next be in the country.
It appears this wasn’t exactly the type of conversation Perry was after though, with her replying: “Ah, c’mon, that’s not a political question, let’s talk about gay marriage!”
After exclaiming that “Love is equal!”, the hosts broke the news to the popstar that Abbott, likely to win the next general election, was in fact anti gay marriage.
“Yeah, well, I love you as a human being but I can’t give you my vote then”, Perry replied.
You can listen to the full audio clip below, with the singer’s new single ‘Roar’ streaming here.
