"Whole" is the first new offering from Joseph since she released "Cold" in December 2018, a B-side of "Weight" which appeared on Joseph's 2018 album From When I Wake the Want Is.
The new single is also the closing page of her From When I Wake the Want Is chapter. Speaking about the track, Joseph explains, ""Whole" is the last song of the circle and me knowing how fucking lucky I am."
