Kanye West says new album is "80% done" and will be a surprise release
Kanye has said in a new interview that his new record is basically complete, and will drop with no warning.
Kanye has recently unveiled a slew of new music, including Paul McCartney collab "Only One", "FourFiveSeconds" with Rihanna (and McCartney), and "Wolves", featuring Sia and Vic Mensa. However, until now, he'd kept largely schtum about the details of his follow up to 2013's combative release, Yeezus.
In an interview with Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club, Kanye spoke on a variety of topics - that Beck thing, ex Amber Rose, Beyoncé - as well as revealing details about his new album.
Apparently, it's 80% done, and will drop by surprise, and will be: "bars, songs, cookout music that just feels good. My last album was a protest to music, I was like 'I'm gonna take my ball and go home'...This album is embracing the music, joy. Being of service to the people. I just hope people like it and enjoy it."
He also confirmed that the album will address police brutality.
