Kanye West has pleaded not guilty in his ongoing court case with L.A photographer Danny Ramos, following a scuffle with paparazzi this July.
The star has been charged with criminal battery and attempted grand theft, but West’s defence have argued that the rapper was simply trying to prevent Ramos from photographing him.
A statement from Kanye’s legal team claims that his “safety was in immediate danger” and that he “responded to this assault by doing only those acts that were reasonably necessary for his self-defense”.
If found guilty, West could face up to a year in jail.
