Coinye West, the Kanye West-inspired digital currency, is on the receiving end of legal threats from the man who influenced its name.
The Wall Street Journal reports that West’s lawyers have demanded the cryptocurrency to stop using the rapper’s trademarked name, as well as suggesting endorsement.
The project was initially set to launch on 11 January, but now they’ve decided to release the currency early, even changing their logo to mock West himself.
“We want to release this to the public before the man can try to crush it,” the creators said. “They’ll still come after us, but that’s OK.”
