Kanye West lashes out at Forbes' claims he's a billionaire, says "It’s $3.3 billion"
Kanye West has disputed Forbes' claims he's just become a billionaire by insisting "It’s $3.3 billion".
Last year, Forbes left Kanye West out of their annual billionaire list piece after he was unable to provide sufficient paperwork to support his claim. Last week, the rapper and producer was added to the billionaires list, but he's still unhappy as he claims Forbes have published an inaccurate figure.
Responding to Forbes publishing that he's worth $1.3 billion, ye said in a text message, "It’s not a billion. It’s $3.3 billion since no one at Forbes knows how to count."
Replying to West's text, the article reads, "For years, Forbes had an informal "Trump rule" - take whatever the future president insisted he was worth, divide by three, and start honing from there. Like mentor, like mentee. Welcome to the ten-digit club, Kanye. You may not like our number, but you’ve joined the highest company in that regard."
ye is the second hip-hop artist to become a billionaire, after his close friend (and occasional rival) Jay-Z, who received the billionaire status in June 2019. Dr. Dre is also approaching the billionaire mark, and will likely follow on from Kanye West.
