Just as it did in the UK earlier this week, Kanye West’s new record Yeezus has topped the U.S Billboard chart in its first week.
The record sold 327,000 copies in the past seven days, the highest first week sales count for a hip-hop record since Drake’s Take Care and third highest of 2013 so far behind Justin Timberlake and Daft Punk.
It also gives West his sixth number 1 album, making his joint second among the rap genre – alongside Eminem and Nas, but just below Jay-Z who has notched up twelve chart-toppers.
Kanye is expecting to tour on the back on Yeezus shortly.
