Justin Timberlake to play lead role in biopic of record executive Neil Bogart
After leaving music for half a decade to pursue actor projects, just to return with a new album earlier this year, it seems Justin Timberlake is now ready to venture back into films too – signing on to portray label boss Neil Bogart in an upcoming biopic movie of his life.
Spinning Gold will follow the life story of Bogart, which saw him found Casablanca Records and sign such artists as KISS, Donna Summer, The Village People, T-Rex, Joan Jett and more.
The flick will be produced by Timberlake himself, presumably handling the soundtrack duties also, with Bogart’s son Timothy Scott Bogart set to write the screenplay.
He said of the venture: “For over 30 years, my father’s story has been the source of intense fascination. The wait to finally tell the story had always been about partnering with the right person to play him – and the wait ended the first time Justin and I ever met.”
Filming is expected to start during 2014.
