Justin Timberlake replaces Ryan Gosling in remake of The Idolmaker
It wasn’t that long ago that Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Gosling was revealed to direct and star in a remake of 1980 film The Idolmaker but had to drop out due to schedule issues. Now childhood pal and Mickey Mouse Club co-star Justin Timberlake is rumoured to be filling his place, whilst also producing the effort.
The original flick was based on the life of rock promoter/producer Bob Marucci, who discovered teen idols like Fabian and Frankie Avalon. If Timberlake takes the job it’ll be the singer’s second time producing movies.
The singer is also expected to play a record executive in Neil Bogart’s biopic Spinning Gold.
Timberlake’s new album The 20/20 Experience Part 2 is out 30 September via RCA Records.
