Julianna Barwick and Mary Lattimore to feature on new Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith compilation
Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith has curated a new compilation LP called Breathing Instruments, which will feature new songs from Julianna Barwick, Mary Lattimore and others.
Breathing Instruments will include contributions from a range of artists, including Julianna Barwick, Mary Lattimore, Emily A. Sprague, Andy Strain, Úlfur, Kacey Johansing, Constant Shapes and more.
Pitchfork reports that each artist was directed to create a song that highlights "the ways in which instruments sound like they are breathing". The Bandcamp pre-order page states, "Some have recreated the literal experience of feeling or hearing the human breath. Others take a more abstract approach, where "breathing" is more motif than object of emulation."
On Instagram last night (26 July), Smith shared a snippet of Jeremiah Chiu's "Poems One & Fourteen" track.
