John Moreland announces Big Bad Luv, his debut album for 4AD

Tulsa, Oklahoma's John Moreland has announced new album Big Bad Luv and shared lead single "It Don't Suit Me (Like Before)".

Moreland's new album will be his first for new label 4AD and his fourth studio LP in total. It's described as being about "love, faith, and the human condition."

The country singer/songwriter recorded the album over 10 months in Little Rock, Arkansas with friends John Calvin Abney (piano and guitar), Aaron Boehler (bass), Paddy Ryan (drums), Jared Tyler (dobro), and Lucero's Rick Steff (piano). Tchad Blake (Tom Waits, Al Green) mixed Big Bad Luv.

"I don't think I'm writing songs that are that much different," Moreland says when asked if his new material is happier. "It's always been a positive thing at heart, even if a song isn't sunshine and rainbows. At the very least my songs have been a way to exorcise negative feelings so that I can move on. And hopefully they provide that same experience to listeners. So that's what I'm still doing. I think it's a positive thing. I think this record, there's definitely a change in attitude, but it's the same point of view."

Moreland has a bunch of European dates planned, including two at London's Union Chapel - find out more. He's also confirmed for this year's End Of The Road Festival.
