It may be 21 years since the band’s classic line-up reformed for a year-long reunion tour, but The Velvet Underground founding member John Cale still seems bitter about the whole thing.
The Welsh singer-songwriter and composer recently told Marc Maron’s WTF podcast that the legendary band’s reuniting in 1992-1993 was a ”big disappointment” to him.
“We could have done anything we wanted. We could have stood on our heads,” Cale says. ” it all suddenly became an exercise in revitalizing a catalog. And instead of doing something that everybody would look up to us, and maintain the standards that we had… I hated that.”
