Joey Armstrong shares update after SWMRS van accident
Joey Armstrong of SWMRS has shared a hopeful update after the band were involved in a van accident earlier this week.
The band have had to cancel their remaining tour dates in 2019 to recover from a van accident after they hit black ice while travelling from Oakland to Denver.
Joey Armstrong, the SWMRS drummer and son of Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, shared an update on Twitter last night (30 October). He wrote, "Josh had a super successful surgery. Him and his mom should be home by the weekend. Natalie made it home today too! Max is still in icu with his family. Hopefully soon we get more info. doctors said he is extremely healthy and strong."
In another tweet, he added, "he even woke up for a bit and asked for tea, specifically ginger and turmeric. he has a long road ahead of him. a lot of healing and rehab but to no surprise he said “nobody would do rehab as good as I will do it."

On 30 October, Armstrong shared a heartfelt tweet about SWMRS' guitarist Max Becker, "since i was four i’ve never seen max hurt. never seen him fall. never seen him break a bone. he’s my older brother. my big brother and a superhero. thank you all for your words. they mean more than you can imagine. max is a gladiator, the doctor said so himself. he can handle this."
