Jessy Rose announces debut EP with lead track "Set Free"
Former Hare Squead member Jessy Rose has announced his debut EP Are You Home?, and has unveiled "Set Free" as the lead outing.
"Set Free" is the first taster of Rose's new EP due next month, and marks his first single of the year following his appearance on KhakiKid's "Last Week" with Nafets in 2020.
Rose says of his new single, ""Set Free" is the most vulnerable I’ve ever made myself on record. It’s kinda scary sharing these thoughts and emotions with the world but it’s also freeing. It was the first song I wrote for the EP so I hope this song gives people a better insight into what I felt like at the beginning of the writing process."
The new track is accompanied with a video by Valentin Hansen.
His debut EP, created with Ben Esser, will feature five tracks. Rose adds, "This EP is very lyrically orientated because most of it was written based on my lucid dreams. I kept a dream journal and wrote about my dreams quite a lot. It was more poetic at the start, then I picked up my guitar and turned them into songs naturally. These songs are very close to my heart and I hope you connect to them."
Rose left Hare Squead in 2018 to focus on his solo material. Before leaving he co-wrote Mahalia's "Sober" (which dropped in 2017), and has since worked with producers including Hoskins, SG Lewis, Jazz Purple, Hoost, Marc Dowding and Felix Joseph.
