Jay-Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail album was recorded in just two weeks
R&B singer The-Dream has revealed that Jay-Z’s latest album was recorded in just two weeks, raising the question of whether it was the product of sibling rivalry of sorts with fellow rapper and friend Kanye West.
It’s been well-documented that Kanye’s Yeezus was finished and rush-released in just 15 days, with Rick Rubin confirming that he helped piece the LP together. But now speaking to RevoltTV, the man otherwise known as Terius Nash has revealed that the majority of the work towards Hov’s Magna Carta Holy Grail was achieved as a result of “two weeks of work”, reiterating that “The significant part of this album two weeks of work. Easily.”
The interview also gives an interesting perspective on Jay-Z’s relationship with business partner: Samsung, as he says that brands like Samsung and Mountain Dew are “the new labels”.
