Jay Z and Beyonce attend Trayvon Martin rally
Jay Z and Beyonce joined thousands at a justice rally for the late Trayvon Martin over the weekend in New York.
17 year old Martin, who was shot dead by George Zimmerman in February 2012, has become a symbol for social equality since Zimmerman was found not guilty under Florida’s controversial ‘Stand Your Ground’ laws.
The music pair were seen with Reverend and activist Al Sharpton at the event, where they also met the Martin family. Sharpton said of their appearance: ”Jay Z told me, ‘I’m a father. Beyoncé is a mother.’ We all feel the pain and apprehension – the laws must protect everybody, or it doesn’t protect anybody,” he continued. “We do not come from hate, we come from love of children.”
The rally took place in 100 different cities in all across the U.S.
