Tame Impala and Pond’s Jay Watson announces new GUM album with lead single "Don't Let It Go Out"
Jay Watson of Tame Impala and Pond has announced his fifth GUM album Out In The World, which arrives with the lead single "Don't Let It Go Out".
"Don't Let It Go Out" follows on from last month's title-track "Out In The World", which was his first new material since his 2018 album The Underdog.
Watson says of his new single, ""Don’t Let It Go Out" is about our modern desire to capture or record and keep every moment. The ease to not only do all this, but then lose it forever down the track inspires and disturbs me."
Out In The World was written and recorded at home in Fremantle, Australia in between his commitments with Pond and Tame Impala.
He says of the LP, "This album is my attempt at making a record that combines my fascination of how other people live their lives, with my own internal desire to analyse mine and improve it. Out In The World was a phrase that conjured a lot of grandeur and ego, yet somehow felt really small and wholesome at the same time."
