Jack White plays surprise balcony show to celebrate Third Man Records store in London
On Saturday (25 September) the first Third Man Records store outside of the US opened in London, and Jack White performed a surprise gig from the balcony of Damien Hirst's building to celebrate.
Jack White's Third Man Records opened a new store in London over the weekend, following previous stores in Nashville, Tennessee and Detroit, Michigan.
The London store was the first Third Man Records store to be opened outside of the US, and is designed by White himself.
Third Man Records London includes a two-level retail space, intimate live music venue called The Blue Basement, and is also the European HQ for Third Man Records.
To celebrate the store opening on Saturday (25 September), White played two shows, one in-store from The Blue Basement, and the second from the balcony of Damien Hirst's building, located at the end of the street.
As Consequence of Sound reports, the setlist included songs from his time with The White Stripes, The Dead Weather, The Raconteurs and his solo material, including the huge hit "Seven Nation Army".
Prior to closing his set with "Seven Nation Army", White performed The White Stripes' "We Are Going to Be Friends", and dedicated the song to "all the neighbours we’re upsetting now."
