Iggy Pop, Brian Eno & The Clash to host shows on BBC Radio 6 Music this Christmas
Iggy Pop will host two festive shows for BBC Radio 6 Music this holiday season, one on Christmas Day and another on New Year’s Day.
The show on 25 December will see the veteran rocker take the reins at lunchtime, with the programme based around the theme of “rockin’ rebels”. The 1 January show will be centred on “heartbreak and heartache”.
“I was a little worried that the listening might feel ragged for the kind of people who can’t embrace Duane Eddy and, say, the Last Poets in the same hour with Doc Watson. Well, that’s too damn bad,” said The Stooges frontman. “I’ve listened to all this music for the shows and it all flows for me. I hope to reach out and touch you.”
This will be followed by an interview with Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, while a two-hour Clash special will be aired with Mick Jones and Paul Simonon on Boxing Day.
Brian Eno will join Jarvis Cocker for his Sunday service show, picking out a capella tracks with the Pulp singer.
