IDLES announce second album and new single "Danny Nedelko" alongside first world tour
Bristolian punks IDLES have been busy working on new material. Today they dropped new single "Danny Nedelko", announced their second album, Joy as an Act of Resistance, and brought news of their first world tour.
The dust has barely settled since their last barbaric single "Colossus", but the Bristol-based punks aren't holding back, and today return with news of their highly anticipated second album.
Second album, Joy as an Act of Resistance, comes with lead single "Danny Nedelko", which sees the group lead a pro-immigration chant, all pinned around their Ukrainian friend and Bristol's Heavy Lungs band member, Danny Nedelko, who features in the self-directed video.
Speaking about what their second album will bring, lead vocalist Joe Talbot explained, "This album is an attempt to be vulnerable to our audience and to encourage vulnerability; a brave naked smile in this shitty new world. We have stripped back the songs and lyrics to our bare flesh to allow each other to breathe, to celebrate our differences, and act as an ode to communities and the individuals that forge them. Because without our community, we’d be nothing.”
This autumn, IDLES will commence their first global tour, beginning in Tokyo on 11 September. The group tours North America before making a quick stop at London's O2 Forum in Kentish Town on 18 October for their biggest London headline date yet. IDLES will complete their tour on 1 December in Toulouse, France.
