Iceland Airwaves shines a spotlight on Reykjavík's hip hop scene with new announcements
Iceland Airwaves festival are highlighting Reykjavík's exciting hip hop scene with new additions to its incredible lineup.
The likes of Glacier Mafia and Kött Grá Pje join already-announced acts such Reykjavíkudætur, GKR, Sturla Atlas, and Aron Can.
Seratones, Lowly, Digable Planets, Conner Youngblood, Júníus Meyvant, Throws, BLKPRTY, Adia Victoria, Vaginaboys, Josin, Gangly, Alexander Jarl, CHINAH, Bróðir BIG, Valby Bræður, Par-Ðar, Rythmatik, Lake Street Dive, Baloji, Sólstafir, Myrra Rós, Warm Graves, Alvia Islandia, Tófa, Tiny, Bára Gísladóttir, sxsxsx, Beneath, Ceasetone, Major Pink, $igmund, Snorri Helgason, Þriðja Hæðin, Magnús Jóhann, Tómas Jónsson, Celestine, Amber, Legend, and JFDR have also been added to this year's event.
PJ Harvey, Julia Holter, Lush, Torres, múm and Kronos Quartet, Samaris, and Warpaint are among the stellar names already confirmed for the fest.
Iceland Airwaves has also confirmed the second edition of Nonference which will be based in the Harpa venue. Nonference, hosted by IMX, will be taking place during the day and will feature talks ("the resurgence of Icelandic rap" is one topic) and music industry masterclasses.
Iceland Airwaves 2016 takes place across Reykjavík, Iceland on 2-6 November.
