Iceland Airwaves 2020 postponed until next year
This year's edition of Iceland Airwaves has been rescheduled for 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, and more than new 25 acts have joined the 2021 lineup.
This year's event was due to take place across multiple venues in Reykjavík at the start of November with performances from Metronomy, Courtney Barnett, Daughters of Reykjavík, Squid, The Murder Capital, Black Pumas, Dorian Electra, and more.
Iceland Airwaves will no longer go ahead this year after Icelandic authorities enforced stricter measures around large gatherings, social distancing, testing and travelling into Iceland. The organisers reveal in a statement that they tried to work through the restrictions by suggesting implementation of social distancing, lower attendance and less venues. The new dates for the 2021 event will be 3-6 November 2021.
Those that have tickets for the 2020 event will be able to use the same tickets for next year's festival.
The 2021 event will host performances from the artists already confirmed for the now-postponed 2020 edition, and over 25 new acts have been announced today (26 August), including Crack Cloud, Porridge Radio, Mammút, Marie Davidson & L’Œil Nu, Balming Tiger, Faux Real, Bríet, HipSumHaps, GDRN, and more.
Iceland Airwaves will move to 2021, the new dates being: Wednesday November 3 - Saturday November 6, 2021.
