Ice Cube's son set to play his dad in N.W.A biopic
Ice Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson Jr is set to play his father in Universal’s long awaited N.W.A biopic, Straight Outta Compton, according to reports.
While the announcement has not been officially confirmed, he may yet be joined by fellow N.W.A progeny Erik Wright Jr, the son of Eazy E, who has apparently been vying to play his father in the film.
Despite having never acted before Jackson Jr has received the seal of approval from his father, who speaking to the Guardian in February explained that he was very similar to his son in his youth. “At that age people think that I was all serious and mean, but there was a mixture of hot and cold,” he said. “I could turn on a dime. And he has my temperament.” Jackson Sr also claims his son can recite the entirety of the group’s seminal record Straight Outta Compton, and has been able to do so since the age of two.
Although the feature has not yet been green lit, such an endorsement for Jackson Jr can only bode well, not least since his father is set the produce the movie, alongside Dr. Dre and Eazy E’s widow Tomica Woods-Wright.
