BST Hyde Park will host free screening of the England V Croatia game
As England reach their first World Cup semi-final since 1990, London's Hyde Park welcomes a free outdoor screening of the match against Croatia.
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, and Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, Matt Hancock have announced that Hyde Park will be hosting a live outdoor screening of the teeth-gritting World Cup semi-final of England against Croatia.
The defining match will decide whether England is that slight bit closer to bringing the World Cup trophy home.
The BST Hyde Park screening could see the England team move to their first World Cup final since winning the tournament in 1966.
Speaking of the forthcoming event, Sadiq Khan explained, “I am sure Londoners of all ages and backgrounds will come together in their thousands at Hyde Park to cheer England on what could be an historic night. I am delighted that good teamwork has meant we have been able to pull out all the stops alongside Government and other agencies to arrange this big screening. We want this to be a family-friendly occasion and a chance for England fans young and old to show the positive spirit of football to the country and the world."
There will be a limit of 30,000 tickets up for grabs, with registration opening at 4pm today (9 July) until midnight (9 July). Tickets will be selected through a lottery ballot system, and applicants will be notified by 10am on 10 July.
Although a large number of tickets are up for grabs, there's no doubt that they will fly out as the nation unites to see if football really is coming home.
