How To Dress Well, Miguel & more discuss “alt R&B” in Red Bull documentary
Episode 1 from Red Bull Music Academy‘s new documentary series about “the most fascinating themes to emerge from Internet music culture in recent times” is now streaming online.
The first segment features the likes of How To Dress Well, Miguel and The Weeknd producer Zodiac discussing what has often been termed as “alt R&B”.
The six-part film, called H∆SHTAG$, will also star the likes of Mount Kimbie, Charli XCX, Kilo Kish, TNGHT, plus others.
The Red Bull website says the following of the project:
“H∆SHTAG$ is a series of mini-documentaries that wrestles with some of these questions, going from the URL to the IRL and shedding light on some of the most fascinating music emerging from the digital ether. It takes into consideration that the Internet is no longer a “new” distribution channel for “old” content, but has become a pivotal part of our everyday lives, influencing not only the way music is consumed – but also the way music is discussed, and most importantly, the way music sounds.”
The series will stream every Tuesday from 29 January on the RBMA website.
