HMV mark new store opening by giving away free vinyl
HMV will give away free vinyl records each day next week at their newly-reopened flagship London store.
The company returned to their 363 Oxford Street branch earlier this month, announcing today that records by The Beatles, Elvis Presley, New Order and Robbie Williams will be given away next week on a first-come first-served basis.
The financially-troubled music chain recently sold their huge 150 Oxford Street branch, previously the biggest record store in the world, to the company owned by Newcastle United chairman Mike Ashley for somewhere between £2-5 million.
They then announced their return to the 363 Oxford Street property, opened by Sir Edward Elgar in 1921, during October. It’s roughly a third of the side of the former branch.
