Have a listen of Will Butler's festive tune "Christmas 2014"
Hold up, hold up: Christmas isn't done quite yet. Okay, well maybe it is, but while we were busy cramming turkey into our gullets, this new song from Will Butler happened.
Butler, normally a crucial member of Arcade Fire, is indulging in a spot of solo-dom while Arcade Fire are between records. His debut album is called Policy and it's out via Merge on 16 March.
As he's gearing up to that release, Butler has been becoming more active in playing shows and releasing snippets of his forthcoming sound - the latest is "Christmas 2014", a timely track on par with the maudlin festivities of Tom Waits and similar ilk. He sounds nowt like Waits, that's for sure, but the pessimistic and threadbare sentiment remains the same.
