Hans Zimmer has provided an extended, orchestral version of Netflix's opening "ta-dum" sound.

When Netflix is opened, the startup animation provides a thumping "ta-dum" before the red lines form the streaming channel's iconic "N" logo.

The "ta-dum" sound only lasts a couple of seconds, but now that Netflix has managed to take its original films to cinema, Hans Zimmer has created an extended edition to reiterate that cinematic experience.

It was revealed on the Twenty Thousand Hertz podcast that Netflix approached Zimmer to create a more epic opening sound to go with the animation, and luckily for Netflix, the streaming service already had a relationship with the legendary composer after his work on The Crown.

As Consequence of Sound reports, Netflix's Brand Design Lead Tanya Kumar said that Zimmer submitted "six or seven various compositions" that were later narrowed down to three.
