Haim announced as winners of BBC Sound of 2013 poll
LA threepiece Haim have won this year’s BBC Sound poll.
The R&B-tinged sisters were confirmed as topping the tipster list on BBC Radio 1 this morning (4 January) by Huw Stephens.
The annual list heralds the big names in new music and is voted for by the UK’s top journalists, broadcasters, tastemakers and bloggers.
They beat the likes of The Weeknd, Savages, PEACE and King Krule to the top spot, after CHVRCHES, Laura Mvula, Angel Haze and AlunaGeorge had all been unveiled in the top five earlier this week.
Haim join last year’s winner Michael Kiwanuka, as well as such artists as Jessie J and Adele, in having received the accolade.
