Guy builds functioning guitar from dead uncle's skeleton so his uncle can "shred for all eternity"
Florida musician and YouTuber Prince Midnight has built a fully functional guitar out of his dead uncle's skeleton as a way to pay tribute to the man responsible for his love of heavy metal.
As Metal Sucks reports, Prince Midnight attached a guitar neck, pickups, volume knobs, a jack, strings and electronics to the skeleton of his dead uncle Filip to create a functioning skeleton guitar to pay tribute to his uncle, who is responsible for Prince Midnight's love for metal music.
His uncle Filip passed away in Greece back in the '90s, and for two decades Filip's skeleton was used at a local college where it was medically prepared and rendered for educational purposes.
When the college no longer had use for Filip's bones, Prince Midnight had to go through a lengthy process with Greek authorities to repatriate his uncle's remains.
Prince Midnight told Metal Sucks, "So, I got the box of bones from Greece and didn’t know what to do at first. Bury them? Cremate them? Put them in the attic? All seemed like poor ways to memorialise someone who got me into heavy metal."
He continued, "So, I decided to turn Uncle Filip into a guitar, which proved to be challenging. I did a lot of research and no one has ever made a guitar out of a skeleton. So, I did it. I started out consulting with two guys in Dean Guitars’ wood shop in Tampa but they got cold feet."
Prince Midnight added, "Anyways, now Uncle Filip can shred for all eternity. That’s how he would want it. I’m super proud of the project and how it serves to honor him, his life and his influence on me."
The Tampa-based musician finished work on the 'Skelecaster' just days ago, and revealed that it "Plays perfect and sounds awesome".
Prince Midnight has also shared a video of him performing Darkthrone's "Transilvanian Hunger" on his uncle Filip's skeleton.
