Talking to a 12,000-strong crowd at the Meredith Music Festival in Australia this past weekend Nick Cave announced that Grinderman were splitting up, for now at least: “That’s it for Grinderman. It’s over,” he said, before apparently adding “See you all in another ten years when we’ll be even older and uglier.” If reports are confirmed, it will mean that the searing, fiercely raucous band Cave formed with Warren Ellis, Martin Casey and Jim Sclavunos in 2006 will have left just two full length albums in their wake.
