Grimes is back! Listen to "Flesh, Without Blood" and "Life In The Vivid Dream" now
Grimes has shared "Flesh Without Blood", the first taste of upcoming record Art Angels.
The track debuted on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show as the Hottest Record In The World, and is the Canadian producer's first official release since "Go", although she did release a demo called "REALiTi" back in March.
Continuing that huge dance streak that "Go" started, the track is full of clear-cut melodic vox, chugging rock guitars, woozy synths, and lots of rapid-fire pop hooks - the cloudy, hypnotic layers that built Grimes' signature style seem to have taken a backseat for now. The video's similarly manic, with lots of blood, costumes, and jerky dance moves - it also shows off another tune called "Life In The Vivid Dream", which is a lot calmer, with waltzing rhythms and warped brass.
The album is set to feature Janelle Monáe and Taiwanese rapper Aristophanes.
Art Angels will be released via 4AD on 6 November. It's Grimes' fourth record in total, and follows 2012's Visions.
