Great Gatsby musical adaptation with music by Florence Welch gets green light
A new stage musical adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby with music composed by Florence Welch has been given the green light to be developed, it has been confirmed.
The LA Times reports that a musical adaptation of The Great Gatsby is set to go ahead, and will feature music written and composed by Florence Welch and Thomas Bartlett, after the pair previously collaborated on Game of Thrones song "Jenny of Oldstones" in 2019.
Welch said of The Great Gatsby and the musical adaptation in a statement, "This book has haunted me for a large part of my life. It contains some of my favourite lines in literature. Musicals were my first love, and I feel a deep connection to Fitzgerald’s broken romanticism. It is an honour to have been offered the chance to re-create this book in song."
According to the LA Times the new adaptation will be written by Martyna Majok, and directed by Rebecca Frecknall.
