Google are being pressured by the RIAA (Recording Industry Of America) to remove around 10 million links to illegal sharing of music.
The RIAA have sent a request similar to that of the BPI (British Phonographic Industry), asking the search engine to take down links to file-sharing or illegal download sites.
While Google are not legally obliged to remove the links, they do, however, have to respond – and it would be damaging for the company’s image for them to publicly refuse.
Digital Music News report that it is very likely that Google will comply with the demand.
This follows the news that Universal are to sue music-streaming website Grooveshark again.
