Gloria de Oliveira and Dean Hurley announce joint album with Jeff Buckley and Elizabeth Fraser demo
Gloria de Oliveira and David Lynch collaborator Dean Hurley have announced their joint album Oceans of Time, and have shared the lead single "All Flowers in Time" which is sourced from an unfinished Jeff Buckley and Elizabeth Fraser demo.
"All Flowers in Time" started as an unfinished demo by Jeff Buckley and Cocteau Twins' Elizabeth Fraser titled "All Flowers in Time Bend Toward the Sun" that was recorded in the early '90s, and has been reimagined for Oceans of Time, the new collaborative album from Gloria de Oliveira and Dean Hurley.
The duo said of the song, "It’s not lost on us that this song is delicate, hallowed ground… the original recording wasn’t even intended to be heard. Yet its story and essence are what music is all about: real human sentiment poured out, touching the lives of others. We were both moved by the song's optimism and our cover is simply a crater-like impression made from the bright-burning comet that is the original."
Oceans of Time came together through a "pen pal style correspondence" that occured over the space of a year. They sent music and notes to each other from different sides of the Atlantic Ocean without ever meeting or speaking.
