Glastonbury launch new dance stage, Nas, Disclosure & AlunaGeorge confirmed
Glastonbury are set to launch a brand new dance stage this year, and Nas, Disclosure and AlunaGeorge have been confirmed to headline its first outing.
The festival has had large dance tents in the past, but recent years have seen smaller stages in the Dance Village.
This is set to change in 2013, however, with organisers looking to revamp things.
Emily Eavis said of the changes:
“I’ve always thought that the closest parallel with Glastonbury is Notting Hill Carnival, and the buzz around this rebirth is exactly what we were looking for, both musically and visually. There’s going to be a lot of incredible music from all around the world.” Never one not to chip in, her father, Michael, added that; “Malcolm (Haynes, Dance Village Co-Ordinator) turned up with an after hours rave truck in the 1980s and he’s been going hard at it ever since. Now he’s conjured up a new vision for one of the most beautiful areas of the farm, which will be brilliant.”
Alt-J have also self-confirmed themselves for Glasto, although they’re not likely to play the dance area of course.
