Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis voices support for badger cull
Michael Eavis, the founder and co-organiser of Glastonbury festival, is not shy to a bit of controversy. Take his decision to book Jay-Z as a headline act and annoying the narrow-minded likes of Noel Gallagher in doing so. Now he’s going to isolate many upcoming festival-goers with his recent words about the culling of badgers.
Speaking to The Guardian recently, Eavis said that “as a dairy farmer” he is “not on the side of the badger”. Continuing: “They’ve also uprooted all the orchids, and killed or eaten all the hedgehogs. They’re still treated like a protected species, but they’re actually quite a damaging animal.”
The Worthy Farm owner is likely to anger many who class a potential badger cull as inhuman. One of these people will undoubtedly be Queen’s Brian May who has repeatedly campaigned against the cull.
