Glasgow welcomes a new club night this week in the shape of UN/KNOWN
In a scene always on the verge of saturation, it's always nice to welcome some new ideas - and in 48 hours' time Glasgow welcomes a new club night in the form of UN/KNOWN.
The brainchild of Glasgow Podcart's Halina Rifai, Vixen Sound's Phoebe Inglis-Holmes and Best Fit's own Andy Hannah, UN/KNOWN will be working in close collaboration each month with DJs/musicians/visual artists VAJ.Power.
Aiming to give opportunities to artists who don't always get the chance, UN/KNOWN states that this "new podcast - club night - exhibition series [will] explore topics of music and politics, bringing those who know a lot about their respective fields to share and have a space for a night."
The first night, at Bloc on 20 September is called 'Knowledge and Understanding' and focuses on "institutional education experienced by all ages and backgrounds". Entry is free but all donations go to Glasgow School of Art POC Society who UN/KNOWN and VAJ.Power believe "do so much to educate within the institutional framework".
There will be an exhibiton of original artwork for sale before the club night kicks off with sets from VAJ.Power, SQU!SHY and TAAHLIAH. Expect the music to be "fast/ fluffy/ bouncy/ bassy / drummy / yummy".
