George Osborne's budget threatens death of the 99p digital download

Of all the things learned from last week’s annual budget, one thing that may have been missed is that George Osbourne’s clamping down on a tax loophole could mean the end of the 99p download.
New laws brought in by the Chancellor will ensure that digital purchases are taxed in the country in which they are purchased. This could, The Guardian say, signal the end of the standard price used by iTunes, Amazon and more.
It’s estimated that the UK government lose €2bn (£1.6bn) each year through lack of VAT paid on digital sales, with this new legislation expected to cause prices to increase.
