Garbage set to release new album in May after seven years
Since the release of their self-titled debut album back in 1995, Garbage have sold well over 12 million albums worldwide and set the stage for a new breed of female-fronted alternative rock bands. At the 1996 MTV Europe Music Awards, they won the award of Breakthrough Artist, whilst the release of their 1998 album Version 2.0 saw them nominated for two Grammy Awards, namely “Album of the Year” and “Best Rock Album”. Rolling Stone Magazine included their 2001 album Beautiful Garbage in the list of Top Ten Albums of the Year.
The announcement of the release of Not Your Kind of People, their fifth studio album, coincides with their upcoming worldwide tour with the band also set to perform at festivals throughout Europe. Shirley Manson describes how “thinking about going back on the road is both thrilling and terrifying in equal measure,” although the band are excited about bringing an end to their seven year break. Not Your Kind of People is released in the U.S. on May 14 through the band’s own label STUNVOLUME.
