Twenty-four piece all female choir Gaggle are set to start work on an opera entitled ‘The Brilliant and The Dark’; based upon a 1969 performance at the Royal Albert Hall involving 1000 woman singers.
It forms part of a project with the Women’s Library to encourage artists to work with their archive. The band has been given full access to the collection and is drawing from its many resources for their re-interpretation of the piece.
They plan to perform the opera on the 23rd of September in the exhibition space, but during the lead up will be offering music video tasters of what’s in store.
