Journalist launches fundraiser to help complete oral history book on Josie and the Pussycats
Entertainment journalist Russ Burlingame has launched a fundraising campaign to fund an unofficial oral history book on the 2001 film Josie and the Pussycats.
As the 20th anniversary for Josie and the Pussycats approaches in April, journalist Russ Burlingame is looking for help from fans of the film in order to complete an "(unofficial) oral history" book on the 2001 movie.
Josie and the Pussycats, which has become a cult classic over the years, starred Rachael Leigh Cook, Tara Reid, and Rosario Dawson, and Burlingame reveals in his IndieGoGo fundraiser description that he's "been conducting dozens of interviews with cast, crew, and fans of the 2001 movie."
The book, currently titled Best Movie Ever: A Totally Jerkin' Book, is a "print-on-demand product", and Burlingame is looking for contributors to help pay for transcription services ("so that the hundred-plus hours of interviews I've conducted for Best Movie Ever can be turned around quickly and professionally").
Burlingame added in his description, "To get people excited to help me make the book a reality, I have plenty of cool perks to offer, including not just the physical books, but in some cases custom editions of the book, hand-bound and with unique cover art and introductions. At some levels, fans can also get actual props from the movies (I have some and have a number of others being shipped to me), art prints, and more."
In terms of the challenges ahead, Burlingame explained in the description, "But the interviews are mostly done, the book is well underway, I have picked out an assistant and a printer, and done all the math. I already have physical possession of a number of movie props, set blueprints, and other one-of-a-kind items I can provide to backers as add-on perks with a pre-order of the book (sorry, we don't have enough of them lying around to make that a separate item). The real challenges now are completion and distribution, which are the two things that the crowdfunding hopes to achieve."
