Frightened Rabbit drummer to cycle across the UK and Ireland for charity
Grant Hutchison, best known as the drummer for Scottish band Frightened Rabbit, is set to embark on a 1100-mile cycle across the UK and Ireland this May in aid of charity.
Hutchison’s niece Morven suffers from a rare genetic condition called Cystinosis, which research is helping to find a cure for. Along with his brother and Morven’s father, Neil, the musician is set to travel from Edinburgh to London, via all five capital cities.
Speaking to MTV about his training for the event, Hutchison said: “We haven’t done anything like this before so we’re learning a lot as we go to be honest,” continuing: “The main reason I keep on pedaling when I feel like stopping is my niece Morven. She is the reason we’re doing this event and she is at the forefront of my thoughts all the way. She didn’t choose to have cystinosis and there’s nothing she can do to change the fact that she has it whereas for me to take 2 weeks out of my life to cycle round the country and raise money for research is an easy choice to make.”
Hutchison also revealed that he’s been listening to the Lorde album whilst cycling recently. You can donate to both Grant and Neil’s cause here.
