Floating Points announces debut album, and shares "Silhouettes" video
Bespectacled genius and musical wizard, Sam Shepherd, has announced details of his debut album Elaenia released under his moniker Floating Points. He has also shared a teaser video for "Silhoettes", taken from the album.
The video, taken from "Silhouettes (I, II and III)", an 11-minute overture, was shot at Rio Tinto: a place on the Spain/Portugal border that has been described as the closest thing on Earth to Mars. Listing influences as broad as classical, jazz, electronic, soul and Brazilian music, "Silhouettes" is a captivatingly haunting composition.
Tonight, Shepherd, who has a PhD in neuroscience, will debut a live version of "Silhouettes (I, II and III)" at Dimensions Festival, Croatia with the backing of an 11-piece orchestra. The show will be streamed live at 7.30pm (GMT).
Elaenia is released via Pluto on 6 November.
