Legendary songwriter Elvis Costello is set to team up with neo hip-hop collective The Roots for a new collaborative album.
The record in question, entitled Wise up Ghost, will be released on 13 September via Blue Note Records. The entire thing came about after Costello appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last year, where The Roots serve as the U.S TV show’s house band.
The Roots’ defacto leader, Questloves said of the LP: “It’s a moody, brooding affair, cathartic rhythms and dissonant lullabies. I went stark and dark on the music, Elvis went HAM on some ol’ Ezra Pound shit.”
