Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros release new track 'This Life'
In the run-up to the release of their eponymous third album, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros have followed lead single ‘Better Days’ with new track ‘This Life’.
The song is a spare, soul-inspired cut that builds to a whirring-organ-and-stirring-strings gospel climax: an “O. Henry ending” according to lead vocalist Alex Ebert’s mother, referencing the short story writer with a penchant for plot-twists. Ebert himself tells Rolling Stone that he can count among his “favorite recordings of all time.”
The band are set to play a slew of U.S. tour and European festival dates, including a Gentlemen of the Road Summer Stampede performance at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on 6 July. The one-day event is to be headlined by Mumford & Sons, who pulled out of their own stateside dates following bassist Ted Dwane’s surgery this month.
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros is comprised of material recorded alongside that of 2012′s Here, and will be released on 23 July.
