East 17’s Tony Mortimer became a huge literature fan over lockdown
East 17's Tony Mortimer has found a new love for literature during lockdown, and has even started writing his own novel.
Tony Mortimer, best known as a former band member of East 17 ("It´s Alright", "Stay Another Day"), has managed to pick up a new hobby during the coronavirus pandemic - literature.
He's been sharing updates with fans on Twitter over recent months, starting back in May when Mortimer revealed he was finishing reading his first novel ever. Just over a month later Mortimer revealed he had finished his "29th book of lockdown", and by July he had already started work on his first novel.
Mortimer's heart-warming updates have carried on this month too. A couple of weeks ago he wrote on Twitter, "Majorly fallen down a huge ‘rabbit hole’ with this new writing lark. Never knew there was so much involved. Plot arcs? Character arcs? Structures. And read 63 books. loving it. #takenovermylife #Literature."

His new hobby was pointed out by journalist Jessica Bateman earlier today (26 October), who has since asked Mortimer if East 17's "Let It Rain" song refers to the Maastricht Treaty like their Wikipedia suggests. He's yet to respond.
Hi @tony_mortimer we are all absolutely loving your newfound passion for literature and can’t wait to read your novel! Can you please confirm whether Let it Rain is really about the Maastricht Treaty? Or is Wikipedia telling lies? https://t.co/6bTDLc15PP
