Evolutionary Arts Hackney launches campaign to fund music studios for young people
Evolutionary Arts Hackney (EartH) have launched a Crowdfunder to raise money towards creating Earth Studios, an educational and creative space for young members of the community.
What was Dalston's derelict The Savoy cinema has been refurbished to become Hackney Arts Centre, which has since been renamed EartH (Evolutionary Arts Hackney).
The team behind Village Underground are now looking to restore the 100 square metre basement, to turn it into a creative and educational space for young community members aspiring to get into music.
Partnering with Community Music, the team behind EartH hope to provide low-cost music and education programs, with possibilities of young creatives performing on stage at the venue itself.
The Crowdfunder aims to raise £50,000, with £24,000 set to go towards technical equipment and instruments, with the rest going on the extensive refurbishment.
The fundraiser is also aiming to provide apprenticeships, rehearsal space and music mentoring.
