Drake’s recent LP Nothing Was The Same opens and closes with samples from jazz musician Jimmy Smith, with the late artist’s estate now suing the Canadian rapper for unauthorised usage.
In particular, Drizzy is being accused of not gaining permission to sample 1982′s “Jimmy Smith Rap” in his closing track ”Pound Cake/Paris Morton Music 2″. According to TMZ, compensation is being sought in the region of $300,000.
