Drake and J Cole criticised for lyric about autism
Following Kanye West’s recent run-in with a Parkinson’s charity for an insensitive line he dropped on a Yeezus track, rapper J. Cole finds himself in hot water with the Anti-Bullying Alliance for a lyric about autism.
Cole’s line in question comes on Drake’s recent track ‘Jodeci Freestyle’, reading as: “I’m artistic, you niggas is autistic, retarded”. Needless to say, autism activist Anna Kennedy didn’t take the words too lightly.
Kennedy has started a petition asking for a public apology from both Cole and Drake on the matter, writing that “It is time we recognised people with autism for the exceptional human beings they are, and make more of a stand.”
The petition currently has nearly 2,500 signatures at the time of publishing.
